What is #CMC?
Controlled Modulus Column (CMC) was invented by Menard in 1990s as a cost-effective alternative to piles. It increases the stiffness of the treated soil mass by allowing effective load sharing between the soils and the columns.
CMC is primarily installed using the specially designed displacement auger where soil is displaced laterally with minimum spoil and no vibration during installation – an environmental and urban friendly technology. The objective is to obtain an improved ground condition with an increase bearing capacity compatible with the structure to be built.
