The use of Prefabricated Vertical Drain<\/a> (PVD) and Prefabricated Horizontal Drain (PHD) in South Kalimantan,Indonesia to generate ground improvement \u00a0by Menard Asia. New Coal Yard Asam – Asam is one of Menard Asia<\/a> projects in collaboration with PT. Truba to build a supporting facility for PLTU Asam – Asam owned by PLN. Menard Asia treated the soil improvement<\/a> through settlement acceleration of new coal yard inside an existing electricity production complex.<\/p>\n<\/div> Asam Asam is a steam power plant<\/a> located in Asri Mulia village, Jorong sub-district, Tanah Laut district, South Kalimantan. PLTU Asam Asam is the main supplier of electricity systems in South Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan with a total capacity of 260MW<\/p>\n In Asam Asam, Menard Asia taking a part in conducting ground improvement<\/a> using Prefabricated Vertical Drain<\/a> (PVD) and Prefabricated Horizontal Drain (PHD) techniques. This technology speeds up the consolidation process and increases the bearing strength of the soil so that landslide problems can be prevented.<\/p>\n<\/div> Soft soils<\/a>, such as soft estuarine and marine clays, peats, and marshy soils, encountered\u00a0 commonly\u00a0 along\u00a0 deltaic\u00a0 and\u00a0 coastal\u00a0 regions throughout the world, are highly compressible in nature and possess undesirable geotechnical<\/a> properties, such\u00a0 as high\u00a0 natural moisture content (close to the liquid limit), low undrained shear strength and low\u00a0 hydraulic\u00a0 conductivity.\u00a0 Therefore, structures\u00a0 constructed\u00a0 on these soils face problems of stability and serviceability if measures are not taken to\u00a0 improve them<\/p>\n Menard Asia<\/a> have treated 20,000 square meters of land to create a solid foundation for a project.
